The farm was formerly known as Nordre Klovholt and was separated from Klovholt Farm around 1860.

Almlia Farm was formerly called Nordre Klovholt and was separated from Klovholt Farm around1860. The main house at that time was located down by Fjærekilen, which is the innermost part of Lake Nordsjø towards the city of Skien. The main house that stands today was built higher up on the hillside above Fjærekilen and was completed in 1897.
The farm has been passed down to the women in the family. First Alma and then her daughter Edna managed the farm operations, while the men in the family had other jobs. Alma's husband Markus was a machinist at Union factories, and Edna's
husband Jan worked as an electrical engineer and politician for the Christian Democratic Party (KrF).
The farm was inherited by Gunhild and her Austrian husband Peter in 2014 and the main house was fully renovated in 2017. They are now in the process of renovating the outbuilding, and the farm currently has sheep on summer pasture.
The farm is within walking distance of Gåsodden beach, and in the garage, there is a small boat with an outboard motor that can be used.
